Much of figurative artist and writer Caroline Jennings’s work centers upon the sense of displacement and longing experienced by those who are exiles within their own lands and/or who spend their lives mentally, emotionally, or physically stretched between two worlds. The artist is a a native of rural West Virginia who has lived most of the past twenty-five years in Manhattan while retaining strong ties with Appalachia and working in Europe and the Middle East.

Her work is narrative in nature, and she uses whatever means seems most appropriate, visual or verbal, to tell her stories. In recent years  she has focused increasingly upon writing as a less space-consuming,  less physically toxic and more portable means of communication.

She was resident artist for the Great Arab Revolt Project from 2008 through 2010.
