Caroline Jennings is a story-teller and scholar, earning a living as writer, editor, and artist.


She has been artist in residence, Arabic translator, and small finds researcher for the Great Arab Revolt Project in southern Jordan and has taught in Rabat, Morocco.  She is the author of Amazon in Arabic, Backward from Illness, a memoir; three novels: A Conspiracy of Goodness, Her Family of Men and The Undulating Mountain; and two illustrated story books for all ages: Rupert Rochester and Elsie Pocket, the story of a boy, a camera, and a gardener; and Elsie Pocket, Her sad yet fortunate story, all published by Red Feather Press New York. She was Development Writer and Manager for the Affiliated Fellows Program of the American Academy in Rome between 2010 and 2015, working closely with former Academy president, Adele Chatfield-Taylor and the directors in Rome.


Her visual work has been widely exhibited nationally and internationally and is found in both public and private collections. She is a Fellow in Writing of the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and Moulin à Nef, a three-time recipient of the West Virginia Governor’s Award in the Visual Arts, and a winner of the “SECCA 7” Southeast Artists Fellowship.
